January Meeting 2025
Saturday the 11th of January was our first meeting of the year and because it is our enrolment day it is an all day event where mini-workshops are run. Despite freezing fog and black ice on the roads attendance was surprisingly high, however being mindful of the weather and wanting to ensure everyone got home safely we did finish the day earlier than usual.
The new programme of events was announced and for the first time members were able to pay their subs by card. Who says we don't move with the times? There was also an opportunity to sign up for the February and April workshops.
It is at this first meeting of the year that Sue usually issues the Christmas Challenge but, because of the inclement weather and not being able to get out of her village, the Challenge had to be relayed to those in attendance by Anne. This year's theme is Peace use the button bellow to go to the Challenge page to see the exact wording.

There were four workshops running on enrolment day as well as table where members can get on with their own projects...the self styled "naughty table" was at the back of the room.

Kay and Ruth led a workshop on stump work. Participants learnt how to create dragonflies using wire, fabric and beads.

Rhona and Yvonne demonstrated that Gel pens can be used to highlight pre-printed fabrics and wall as allowing you to create you own designs.

Wendy's workshop was so popular we had to steal tables from other groups to fit everybody in. Using examples of Wendy's designs, which members photographed to use as guides, they created landscape/seascape collages using fabric scraps and embellished them with threads, wools and stitching. Members were shown how to mix textures and layer materials to create different effects.

Carol demonstrated the art of Sommerset folding which can be used with fabrics as well as paper.
