September Workshop

Our first workshop back after the summer break was with Gillian Cooper, a highly accomplished textile artist. She led a morning workshop on how to utilise scraps to make a puffin appliqué book cover. The participants made a back ground fabric and then drew a reversed puffin image on fabric stiffener that was ironed onto the back. Elements of the bird were stitched in reverse order from the back and excess fabric cut away. This proved to be a remarkably quick form of appliqué with more detail added with machine embroidery and quilting.
