2024 Exhibition

In 2024 we held "Borders in Stitch" our exhibition of members work covering Challenges from December 2021, workshops from January 2022 and works produced over the previous 3 years inspired by guest speakers. We hold our exhibitions every three years and as well as delighting the general public it gives our membership a chance to see pieces that they may have seen started in workshops or heard about in passing.

For the first time we were able to hold the exhibition in Foulden Village Hall, which is normally our our regular meeting hall. Visitors came from far and wide to view the displays and some even made enquiries about joining the group.

The monies raised from the entrance fees, sales of work, games and haberdashery table was split between the nominated charities of RNLI and Berwick Cancer Cars. Each organisation getting £375.

Members own works

Members submitted their own works for sale. The sales commissions went to this year's chosen charities.

Challenge boards

Every year Sue issues a themed challenge. Participants show their items at the Christmas lunch.

The group runs a number of workshops every year. Here members have displayed some of their finished works.

Helen Poremba Workshop

Helen Poremba's "Botanical Inspirations" was a free motion machine embroidery workshop held in November 2023

We have some exceedingly talented members who not only use many techniques but also work in many media and are willing to share their expertise.

Christmas Challenges

Not every item our members make can be hung on a wall. Some items made for challenges are made to be worn/used or are more sculptural.

Nikki Parameter Workshop

Nikki Parmenter's "Marine Magic" took place in June 2022. It was a fun machine embroidery workshop that used everything from fused textiles to sweet wrappers.

Scrap Quilting

Carol Munro delivered a workshop in April 2024 showing how scraps can be used for appliqué. Participants either made tree or highland cow wall hangings.

Hand stitched Kilt

This beautiful kilt was hand stitched by Wendy Carter for her son. This was Wendy's first exhibition entry having only joined in September 2023

Crewel work

Rineke Sangster made this wonderful cushion from a panel started in Susan Finlayson's 2022 Crewel workshop.

North Country Quilting Workshop

In June 2023 Helen Barnes led a half day workshop on this traditional hand quilting technique. Also known as Durham Quilting. Here is Anne Newbury's finished panel.

Sue Handoll's Alchemy Entry

Finally a piece by one of our longest serving members. Sue can always be relied upon to produce an intriguing Challenge entry with a remarkable story.
